Me and the fiancee are considering staying about 5 days in Washington DC this summer.
I am looking for hotels, that A) Don't suck and B) are either nearby or nearby by to a reasonable subway ride that can take downtown to do touristy stuff such as supreme court, smithsonian, monuments, stuff like that.
Recommendations are appreciated.

I remember when my local Kamloops RCMP had a Camaro just like that. Local legend says that someone stole the wheels off of it.

Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City Mall, if budget isn't an issue.
The Washington Hilton is also a good choice, and is in walking distance of the museums.
Embassy Suites, and Hotel Monaco are also good choices for Hotels, and are in the nice parts of town.
If you want more budget oriented hotels, Maryland and Virginia are the best ways to go about doing that. Crystal City has good hotels, and a Metro station that will take you right into the center.
Ask away if you have any questions!

The place we looked at was $1050 for 5 nights. This was deemed too much, so less than that. Thanks for the recommendations!

Yeah, Dc has some expensive Hotels. Right in the middle of the action is great.
If nothing else works, Sheraton. Haha That's what I did a while back before I moved to N. Va.

The embassy suites in old town Alexandria is where I normally have people stay. Close to the metro, and old town itself has plenty to do. There's other hotels in the same area that are just as good.
Crystal City is also good bet. Lots of hotels, close to the airport and metro... Not as much to do in walking distance though.

Check out Club Quarters ( clubquarters.com/washington-dc ). It is in a great location close to whitehouse but not too pricey. My parents always try to stay there when they are here.

Hey, I don't know much in the way of hotels here. But, let me know when you're coming so I might be able to organize an upcoming oppo meet when you're here! Katie's C&C is awesome.

Yep, Crystal City is best combo of cheap(er) + access. Straight shot on metro across to the Smithsonian/etc. - parking is pretty brutal downtown during the day.

Awesome! Hopefully it will work out. I'm sure you'll have fun here. 5 days is an ideal amount of time to see anything worth seeing, probably.

There's a nice courtyard Marriott in Rosslyn. In Virginia and only a couple stops on the orange line from the Smithsonian museums.
Definitely cheaper than anything you'll find in the district.
